Coke is Entering the Hard Seltzer Market with a Splash

Last Summer, The Coca-Cola Company (KO) announced that it would be adding alcohol to its brand portfolio…Specifically hard seltzers sold under the recently-acquired ‘Topo Chico’ brand name.
Consumer chatter shows that Coke’s first foray into the adult beverage market is being met with considerable hype: Topo Chico Mentions are up +271% YoY on a 30-day moving average and still rising.
The novelty of an established mineral water brand putting out an entirely new product may be partially responsible for the influx in Buzz, but the current strength mirrors early reports from the beverage giant, which cite promising early sales results in the southern US.
